March 2, 2025 | [STATEMENT] Freedom Publishers Union's position on the war and support of Ukraine remains unchanged
What the world witnessed yesterday, with the diplomatic exchange of shouting and rhetoric between the President of the US and the President of Ukraine, President Trump and President Zelensky, respectively, regarding ongoing military aid, was nothing short of shocking.
To see global diplomacy breakdown in front of the media, with images and videos broadcast to the world, and result in such behavior from two Presidents of sovereign nations who are supposed to be fighting for the same peaceful cause, was truly unnerving.
What is to come from the breakdown in diplomatic relations between the US and Ukraine is not yet known.
It's immediately clear that Europe and much of the rest of the world remains supportive of Ukraine's right to defend itself against Russian aggression, even in the absence of US-led support.
However, the exchange gave a fearful glimpse into the effects of the American isolationist approach being taken, quite aggressively, by President Trump.
We urge both parties to reduce the diplomatic tension and immediately return to constructive dialogue.
The US, Ukraine, and the world want to see the war between Russia and Ukraine come to an end.
How the war comes to a peaceful resolution remains uncertain.
Freedom Publishers Union's position on the war and support of Ukraine remains unchanged.
Since we expressed our condemnation at the beginning of the escalation in the conflict in 2022, many circumstances have shifted, yet our fundamental stance condemning Russia's invasion of a sovereign nation has not wavered.
While we previously criticized the Biden administration's response - highlighting failures that many still refuse to acknowledge - we maintain that diplomacy is the only viable solution to this conflict.
Personalizing this matter into a contest between President Trump and President Zelensky shifts focus away from the core issues.
Global diplomacy must continue with clear focus and not become distracted by personality conflicts.
Freedom Publishers Union does not wish to condemn either President Trump or President Zelensky personally.
However, we must make a couple of critical points about each leader.
We supported President Trump to be re-elected as the 47th President of the United States of America.
Our support for President Trump and MAGA remains wholly unchallenged, yet we will not hesitate to call out instances when we believe matters could have been handled better.
This is one of those times.
We also support President Zelensky as the legitimate President of Ukraine.
We acknowledge concerns about aspects of Zelensky's political tenure, including questions about the allocation and management of the hundreds of billions of dollars in international aid.
These concerns deserve proper investigation, but through calm, sensible international diplomacy with the primary focus on resolving the conflict.
Freedom Publishers Union continues to stand with Ukraine and calls for a return to measured diplomatic engagement that prioritizes peace over posturing and long-term stability over short-term political gains.
